Charles “Charlie” Schmidt
For Clayton City Council
I intend to serve the citizens of Clayton to maintain a fiscally responsible and careful balance between progress and keeping intact the charming character and landscape of the town that we all love.
As a retired Lieutenant Colonel, my 28 years in the U.S. Army Reserve in planning and operations gave me the leadership skills to serve the public with dedication.
For more than 10 years, I taught Chemistry at the University of Florida. I worked on food safety and environmental projects, and I currently sit on the Board of Directors of the North American Pesticide Residue Workshop.
I am a 24-year Clayton resident; married for 50+ years; have raised two children; and have two grandchildren.
My commitments to Clayton include an appointment to the Clayton Planning Commission, serving on the Trails and Landscape Committee, and continuing as a community volunteer and Senior Advisor to the CBCA Clayton Oktoberfest.
Dedicated service is a part of me, and I hope that you will consider my becoming a member of your Clayton City Council.
